Our Hunt For A House

Home Sweet Home

A cute and quaint townhome in the city of Chino Hills is what we call home—although not what we originally intended, we are thankful that God’s ways are not our ways.  To take you back a bit, after Brett and I got engaged, we decided that it was time to house hunt. Our plans were originally to buy our own place since the market was in good shape. We hooked up with a realtor and looked and looked for months and months. We saw everything under the sun. Oh, it was fun----for a while, but soon became a huge stress as time was running out and nothing was sticking. I guess you could say we are “picky” buyers, but after all, this is one of the biggest investments you can ever make and we didn’t want to settle for less than the best. It didn’t help that at the same time as we were searching, we were trying to plan for another huge event…..our wedding—talk about a full plate! We definitely were on overload! We had set a deadline of buying a house by Sept. 1st  just before we were to get married—it didn’t happen. Being up against such a busy and intense time of our lives, we ended up realizing that we didn’t want to pressure ourselves into making one of the biggest decisions simply because we had no more time left, when in actuality we have a lifetime left! We had exhausted our search and began to find ourselves in a panic. We needed a roof over our heads when we got back from our honeymoon. Just when we thought we would be forced to live under a tree—God came through for us, as He always does. The day came that Brett and I decided to try a new way, although we had many doubts about our tactic we hopped in the car anyway and drove around areas we liked, looking for signs—turns out it was the first place we saw, exactly in the area that we wanted, a quiet and safe neighborhood, close to freeways, shopping centers, restaurants, and it had a price tag we liked. The best part…it’s exactly 4 minutes away from my work! Yahoo!! No more 60 freeway in the morning. Praise Jesus! It took one phone call and one visit and the place was ours! The owners said they were hoping for a new, young couple that was just starting out or getting married!!!!! Seriously?!!? That was us to a perfect T. God knew and He led our car straight there. We were ecstatic because we had finally found a place that we loved and could see ourselves living in. It’s quaint and homey, 2 stories with 1 bedroom, 1 loft and 2 bathrooms. We even have a little backyard that is perfect for BBQs, drinking lemonade in the summer or roasting marshmallows at the fire pit in the winter. We have decorated our home in a beach theme and we love the tranquility that it brings. Since our schedules are crazy and we can’t often get out to the coast, all we do is sit in our living room and the beach comes to us! It may not be a mansion, but it’s what we call home and we love it! Thank you Lord for providing! We are so looking forward to all the times of having family and friends come over and play games, share dinners, enjoy parties and holidays, watch movies and most of all enjoy each other. Our house is your house…come on by!
